About the Artist
Claire Thornburgh lives in the Sunset Hill neighborhood of Ballard in Seattle. Buoyed by Sound views, she writes hard comings and goings, like the container ships powering past, as well as the meanderings of pleasure craft, sometimes sojourners, but mostly mooring, here, where they began. Claire’s current work including pieces written by her two children is a memoir in poetry. Provisionally titled A Family Writes, Poetry of Cancer, Loss and Living Now, this work documents her husband’s cancer from diagnosis through three years of illness to his death in 2009 and on to the process of creating a new life (soon to be published).
