About the Artist
Dave Kennedy (Seattle) received his MFA from the University of Washington in Interdisciplinary Arts and an undergraduate degree from Western Washington University in Visual Communication. Kennedy is an active member of Photographic Center Northwest and advisor to Incluseum, a blog whose focus is on social inclusion in museums. His works have exhibited both locally and internationally at such venues as the G. Gibson Gallery, Photograhic Center Northwest, Zhou B Art Center, Escuela de Belle Arte in Spain, and the Seattle Art Museum's Gallery.
Dave received 2015 GAP funding to assist with the development and presentation of his upcoming solo show: compositions that are created to help magnify the layers and layers of meanings made possible by our senses and perceptions. In this series, Dave has been remaking an image of an image, specifically layering-in selected objects to change their dimensions and scale. The process provides a meditation on disrupting assumptions — the established ways we are taught to think that about seeing.
