About the Artist
Elana Winsberg (Seattle) thinks of herself as an expressive realist painter interested in what lies beneath. Her work explores power and fragility and the awe-inspiringly beautiful and frightening aspects of the human condition, most recently in a series of work about the suicide of her sister.
Winsberg is an award-winning artist, web designer, and photo and graphics editor for newspaper journalism in her past life. She decided to take seriously all those dreams of being a full-time artist after her last newspaper closed, and is a graduate of Seattle’s Gage Academy of Art Drawing & Painting Atelier under Mark Kang-O’Higgins.
Winsberg has a B.A. Psychology from Simon Fraser University in BC, Canada, with additional fine art and graphics studies at other schools.
