About the Artist
Frederic Wong (Lynnwood) received a 2008 GAP for the continued production of work. Frederic calls his work “Non-Action Painting” because it is related to the Taoist concept of non-action. He pours tea or pigment on glazed tiles to stain on its own or cracks tiles and then reassembles its pieces. The process is very time-consuming and changes in stain are almost imperceptible, but a time-lapse video may be employed in order to illuminate his process.
Frederic also received a 1995 GAP.
