From the Artist
This award came at a time when I had given up on my project finishing any time soon, I watched as time flew by without any progress. When you are a black woman, you get used to disappointments and failures, but when things happen that are good, I'm shocked. It's a bump of encouragement that tells me to keep going, keep struggling, keep fighting and don't give up. This money helps me get there, to my dreams, one step at a time.
