About the Artist
Jannát Marie née Jannát Bey (Seattle) was an 18 year old student at Rutgers University when her arranger father, Gil Fuller, hired her to research and write a segment for the 1972 ABC-TV Emmy winning television documentary that covered the Big Band/Bebop era featuring Dizzy Gillespie.
Jannát is currently writing Between the Notes, a coming-of-age story of loss and betrayal of a mixed race girl who grows up in the 1960’s Jazz scene with a renowned father, takes up writing secretly as her art/form. She also is a collage and watercolor artist working in sculpture and canvas.
