About the Artist

Jessica Jobaris (Seattle) received a 2005 GAP to offset artist fees for her collaborative work with John Paulsen and George Lewis for the production of door Stories, a collection of choreographed stories “that speak of isolation, waiting and memory,” says Jobaris. “Three characters appear in a door and the story of their lives unfolds in vignettes of sparse movement and subtle dance partnering.” door Stories creates stage pictures that ask the audience to complete the imagery, making the audience an active part of the storytelling experience.
