About the Artist
Joannie Stangeland (Seattle) was earning a degree in Dance when she started taking poetry workshops with Nelson Bentley at University of Washington. Since then, Joannie has written In Both Hands and Into the Rumored Spring, both from Ravenna Press, Weathered Steps, from Rose Alley Press, and A Steady Longing for Flight, winner of the Floating Bridge Press Chapbook Award. Her poems have appeared in many publications, including Crab Creek Review, Pontoon, Superstition Review, and First Water: Best of Pirene’s Fountain. Joannie has been a Jack Straw Productions Writers Program Fellow, and she has taught at Hugo House and LiTFUSE.
