About the Artist
Kathy Liao (Seattle) was born in Taiwan. She moved to Southern California with her family at a young age, and the cultural duality has a significant influence on her current body of work. She completed her Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting at Boston University and received her undergraduate degree in Painting and Drawing from University of Washington, Seattle. Liao is a recipient of various local and national awards including the Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation Grant, Brook Fellowship Scholarship from Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Constantin Alajavo Scholarship from Boston University, and Best of Show at the Collective Vision Gallery Juried Show.
Additionally, in 2013 she was chosen as Artist-in-Residence at the Weir Farm Art Center and for the Jentel Residency Program.
