About the Artist
First trained at The Juilliard School as a classical musician, Kim currently creates visual art based in photography and encaustic. Her extensive musical experience plays a significant role in this work, adding dimension, rhythm and lyrical qualities. She is fascinated by the colors and textures of oxidization and decay, and these feature prominently in her work. A resident of Washington since 1989, Kim has lived on Whidbey Island since 1997 and on San Juan Island from 1989-1997. She is a native of Newport Beach, CA, and has also lived in Los Angeles, New York City and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
