About the Artist

Mardie Rees (Gig Harbor) has participated in numerous shows throughout Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, and the East Coast. In 2007, she was selected to sculpt a life sized figure of St. Anthony and Child for the lobby of Gig Harbor’s new Franciscan hospital. She has also received many awards, including a Margaret K. Williams Arts Award (2008), a First Honor Award from Portrait Society of America’s International Competition (2010), Portrait Society of America’s Exceptional Merit Award (2013), and a Gold Medal of Honor from Allied Artists of America’s 97th Annual Exhibition. She was also a finalist in the Sculpture for Art Renewal Center Salon (2009/2010). In 2013 she was commissioned for a permanent sculpture at the Shawnigan Lake School in Canada.
