About the Artist
I am a graphic artist that has moved into the third dimension of sculpture and costume design. I am influenced by fashion, the details and textures of fabric, beadwork and lace, and how that decorative aspect can express inner emotion. My sculptures are made of nylons, beads and buttons. The process of making these pieces is documented through the scars, bumps, lumps, puckers and layers that cover these creatures. They look as though they have been turned inside out, the emotion manifesting itself in the surface of the skin. I hope to create vulnerability and tension out of materials commonly used to decorate and beautify.
