About the Artist
Rebecca Cummins (Seattle) explores the sculptural, experiential and sometimes humorous possibilities of light and natural phenomena, often referencing the history of optics. Exhibitions include the 2006 Shanghai Biennial, the 2002 South Australia Biennale of Australian Art in Adelaide, the 2008 Biennial of Seville, Spain and Wireless Experience, and the Museum of Contemporary Art KIASMA in Helsinki, Finland, 2004. Commissions include the Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs with the Seattle Public Library (Montlake branch), The Exploratorium, San Francisco and the Washington State Arts Commission and the University of Western Washington. In-progress commissions include The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, Seattle Public Utilities and the University of Oregon, and the Oregon State Arts Commission.
