About the Artist
Sarah Rosenblatt is a queer, mixed-race illustrator, comic artist, printmaker and educator. At times journalistic and at times autobiographical, her work revolves around anti-racist feminism, social movements, and politicized identities. For Sarah, comics are a way to visually map out complex political ideas and personal experiences in very direct and even propagandistic ways. Her comics journalism is featured on independent news site Truth-out.org, where she writes and illustrates topics such as anti-capitalist education reform, body politics, and the prison industrial complex. Her work is also available on the queer lifestyle and politics website Autostraddle.com, as well as bookstores around Seattle.
Sarah received GAP 2016 funding for her project Queer and Trans Resistance Comix, a comic series of illustrated interviews with Queer and Trans activists and community members around themes of resistance, identity, and self-determination.

From the Artist
The Grant for Artist Projects will inspire and support an art piece that I've been dreaming of for years. Now, I'll be able to compensate friends and community members for participating in this collaborative art project, which is important to carrying out the values of the piece itself. I am so grateful to have this support!
