About the Artist
My current work combines a love of color and visual art with jewelry. Gemstones have never interested me as much as alternative materials like colorful plastics, found objects, or text and images. Ever since I saw the work of Kiff Slemmons in the early 1990s I have been fascinated with the versatility of jewelry and the possibilities for using unusual objects or images, along with metal, to create narrative. Jewelry has become a new and challenging medium for capturing my love of beauty found in the everyday things of life: the lines in a staircase, old green wallpaper, golden skin in a painting. New stories and relationships emerge when otherwise unrelated elements find themselves set side by side in a necklace or earring.
