Take an amazing journey into an in-depth exploration of encaustic technique on the “intermediate” level. Learn what well-known contemporary artists are doing with hot wax! If you have taken a beginning or basic encaustic class, this is the class for you. After reviewing basic techniques and studio safety, you will be able to jump right into more experimental and exciting processes involving mixed media, color, texture, scribing and much more! Supply list provided at registration. Supply fee payable to instructor at class.

Lisa JonesMoore

Lisa JonesMoore is a graduate of Colorado State University, with a BFA in Fine Art and Graphic Design. Encaustics (beeswax, damar resin, pigment), collage and found object assemblage have been a passionate pursuit for her over the past seven years. She includes many items in her work-such as bones, fabric, digital photos, discarded papers, bottle caps, rusty nails, sand and old hardware parts. Her love of Latino culture shines through many of her works.

Lisa also loves creating contemporary shrines and iconic female imagery as a way to connect with herself, her past and other like-minded souls. Lisa’s works are part of private collections in the Northwest, Midwest and East coast of the United States. Her encaustic and mixed media work has been published in Cloth•Paper•Scissors magazine, Somerset Studio, Somerset Workshop, Somerset Life Images, IndieArts DVD magazine and soon to be published in 2012: The Pulse of Mixed Media: Secrets and Passions of 100 Artists Revealed.

Lisa is currently represented by Fraker/Scott Gallery in Seattle, Washington. She is also thrilled to be working for Schack Art Center as the coordinator for art classes and workshops.
