Maggie Orth will describe her unorthodox approach to textile design using computer technology. As one of the first creative and technical practitioners of electronic textiles, she has had the opportunity to develop and grow this new medium. Orth received her Phd. in Media Arts and Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Media Lab in June 2001. she earned a Masters at MIT’s Center for Advanced Visual Studies, and a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. She is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of International Fashion Machines, Inc. Her work is widely exhibited nationally and internationally.
