Pepper Peterson Statement for MIVAL

Women have a lot of attitude in their facial expressions, body language, make-up, hair styles, and clothing. That’s why, for the past several years, I have painted women exclusively. I am able to tell the viewer what my women is saying with her look, her style, her colors, without actually saying a word.

For my demo, I am going to bring some small 8x8 oil painted studies of my ‘girls’. I will paint from one of the many thousands of photos I have taken.

I am not shy. When I see a woman that I think I would like to paint, I ask if she’d let me take photos right then and there, or better yet, go to a location to pose her. Maybe a bar, or, many times, it’s my home where my studio is.

Painting has been a passion of mine for approximately 18 years. Hopefully I have many more years to keep on doing what has brought much joy to my life. My great-grandmother painted into her 90’s, so I have high hopes.
