Hallway Gallery welcomes the return of Tracy Taylor Grubbs to the Northwest. As a much-lauded San Francisco based painter, Grubbs’ work is an exploration of the coexistence of the seemingly stable with impermanence and change.
Part of the beauty and importance of her work is that it shines a light on our false notion of solidity. It is a double entendre of sorts in that her work is an indication of the impermanence of objects yet the work itself is something we see as, and would like to believe is permanent.
Once the concept is grasped Grubbs’ work inherits an even greater value. It reminds the viewer to marvel in the fleetingness of beauty rather than attempt to hold on to it forever. It is an assertion that to do so is an exercise in futility.
Tracy Taylor Grubbs, “Now Away” opens at Hallway Gallery on March 1st , 2012 with an artist reception from 6-9PM. Enjoy complimentary wine while viewing new works by Tracy Taylor Grubbs and encaustic paintings by Eileen P. Goldenberg.
Join us also for the presentation of new ceramic work by Chris Dufala in partnership with NCECA’s 46th Annual Conference being held throughout creative venues in the Greater Seattle area March 28th -31st, 2012. Opening reception March 30th from 6-9pm.
