Artist Trust / EDGE Professional Development Program for Visual Artists / Seattle & Port Townsend

Deadline

Overview

Artists who reside in Washington State are encouraged to apply to the 2012 EDGE Professional Development Program for Visual Artists. The EDGE Program offers artists a comprehensive survey of professional practices through a hands-on, interactive curriculum that includes instruction by professionals in the field, as well as specialized presentations, panel discussions and assignments. The goals of the EDGE Program are to provide artists with the relevant and necessary entrepreneurial skills for achieving their personal career goals and to build community by supporting peer support and exchange. All final EDGE graduate portfolios will be reviewed by Barbara Shaiman, Gallery Director at SAM Gallery.

The EDGE Program is open to emerging and mid-career visual artists. Applicants must be residents of Washington State but cannot be students enrolled in a graduate- or undergraduate-degree program. Applicants must commit to completing the entire 54-hour program.

Artist Trust will offer two cycles of the EDGE Program for Visual Artists in 2012:
  • June 22-August 3, Seattle: Seven weekend sessions.
  • August 18-25, Centrum, Fort Worden State Park, Port Townsend: Week-long residency.

Tuition is $545 for non-members and $500 for members. Port Townsend will cost an additional $250 per participant for lodging and dinners for the week. Tuition may be paid in installments, and tips for funding EDGE tuition may be obtained by contacting Artist Trust.

Partial scholarships are available for those with financial challenges. Specific funds are available to Latino/Latina artists and artists residing outside of King County. Once accepted into the EDGE Program, more information will be provided regarding how to apply for scholarships.
