We invite you to contribute to our exhibit BIRDS AND BEES at the Confluence Gallery in Twisp, WA. The show will open on July 7, 2018 and will run thru Aug 11, 2018.
100 years ago in 1918, Congress passed the Migratory Bird Treaty Act in order to protect birds from wanton killing. The National Geographic, Audubon Society, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and others have declared 2018 as the Year of the Bird. Dozens of organizations are coming together to evaluate birds and the important place they have in our lives and ecosystems. Thomas Lovejoy said “if you take care of the birds you take care of most of the big problems in the world.” This exhibit is our small contribution to this conversation. We also have included bees and insects as an expansion of the discussion. Why do birds, and insects, matter? How as an artist can we express what birds and insects mean to us? We are looking for thoughtful responses to the question of how birds matter to you.
