Internships are one of Elsewhere’s education programs in support of emerging leadership. They offer a professional, creative, hands-on opportunity to work and live within an alternative, non-profit organization run by a small, but an impactful team of staff, artists, and community partners. Each year interns are selected to live on-site 3 months for the Spring, Summer and Fall session; each intern is paired with a supervisor of a core department (Communications, Operations, House, Programs). Interns assist with artistic production, museum programs, design, marketing, community outreach, and non-profit administration.
Ideal candidates are dedicated, helpful visionaries interested in supporting Elsewhere in building a more creative and collaborative future. Interns participate in a teamwork environment, learn from fellow creatives, and acquire access to an international network of alumni.
This internship is great for post-undergraduate age applicants with a dedication to creative culture and arts administration. After the internship, participants leave with an understanding of the workings of an experimental arts organization and skills that will provide leverage for a life in the arts.
•There are 3 internship sessions during the Spring, Summer, and Fall.
•Sessions are approximately 3½ months.
•Onsite interns commit to and must contribute 30 hours a week (Tues- Sat, 10-4 pm) in order to receive free housing.
•Onsite interns buy into the Kitchen Commons Food Co-Op, which provides an equipped kitchen with locally sourced, fully stocked vegetarian ingredients and prepared lunches 5 days a week, required for Onsite interns at $50/ week.
•Elsewhere requires a non-refundable deposit of $250 to hold your internship spot. The deposit will be applied towards yourFood Co-Op payment, which is due in full at the start of the internship.
Each session strives to create a dynamic ensemble who helps run the museum, deliver programs, connect with audiences, and participate in the experience of living at Elsewhere. There is a long history of exceptional interns who have left their mark at Elsewhere; past interns have gone on to work at other impressive institutions, design agencies, and non-profit, community organizations.
