Call to Artists for Art Outside 2012
Submissions accepted now through April 16
The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center is now seeking proposals from artists for the 13th season of Art Outside in our Webster Woods Art Park. There are opportunities for both the creation of site works or for the placement of existing sculptures to join the more than 100 that can still be discovered along the trails.
The season opening day celebrations are June 16 with installations taking place in the three to four preceding weeks depending on artist schedules and needs. This season is special because it will be the final one curated by retiring PAFAC director Jake Seniuk, who has been the Woods’ resident Art Ranger since the founding of the art park.
PAFAC will provide a $300 honorarium to each exhibiting artist to help defray costs. A grant from the Washington State Arts Commission will fund 8 artists.
We welcome additional sponsorships to reach our perennial quota of 20 artists.
A minimum one-year loan is requested. Works may be for sale and permanent acquisition through purchase or gift is possible. We welcome sculpture in traditional or alternative media as well as site works. Relevance of the work to the natural setting and harmony with the other works in the park is paramount.
Submit 4 - 12 jpg samples via email or CD of existing work for placement or as examples to support proposals. Initial proposals may be in verbal form, if supplemented with related visual materials. A site visit is strongly encouraged.
Please submit materials or state your intention to submit as early as possible to insure best site selection. Proposals received after the APRIL 16 SCREENING DEADLINE cannot be guaranteed equal consideration. Works will be installed or constructed during May and early June. Housing will be arranged for out-of-town artists during their installation stays.
