Valley Arts United / Puyallup City Hall Art Gallery / Call for Artists
Overview
Valley Arts United strongly desires a core group of artists who are interested and enthusiastic about being a part of and running a new cooperative art gallery in Puyallup City Hall.
We want to have a variety of art in not only form and style, but also in price range. We want high-end items in the hundreds with a few perhaps over a $1,000. But realistically we know that the bulk of our sales will be in the under $100range. It is also very important to VAU that the public see this as more than just an art gallery. We want it to become a community center for the arts. It can be used for art classes, lectures, meetings, etc.
House artist will pay 1st and last months rent of $75. Due on the 1st of each month. This is a special rate offered only to the initial core group.
Your commitment entails the following:
6 months commitment
Share work schedule-2 days a month(artist divided by days in month)
Be responsible for sales, books, and daily schedule on your shift
Attend monthly meetings(voted on by group)
Provide a current Bio/portfolio for display
10% of sales to gallery for operation
We will collect and pay your taxes, report to you
Rehang gallery every month, areas will rotate
Each month must hang 50% new work
Monthly rent due on the 1st, late fee $50.
Permission to use art for promotion of gallery
Personal liability insurance provided by VAU
Valid WA state business license
Artist will be paid commission by the last day of the month
House artists make a long lasting commitment, share responsibility for management, staffing and business happenings, attend meetings, work in gallery, participate in making advertising decisions. House artists are self motivated co-operators of the marketing group. Valley Arts United has made this opportunity possible. The Gallery 3/V AU board will support and guide our growth. Our goal is to make Gallery 3 an art center for the community. We will offer art classes, lectures, events coordinated with the downtown merchants and FarmersMarket.
