ArtsEd Washington advances arts education through leadership, partnership, and communication. We work to address the inequities in arts education within Washington’s K-12 schools. We want to see that every child in Washington State has access to the best possible education, one in which the arts are fully integrated into the regular curriculum. School is a child’s primary activity and the environment in which most of his/her major academic and social development happens. And yet in 60% of Washington State’s schools, students receive less than one hour per week of instruction in music, dance, theater, or visual art. Through our work, we seek to build capacities within schools and districts to teach the arts, galvanize parents, policy makers, and community members to support their local schools, and provide up-to-date information and resources to cultural organizations and individual teaching artists to help them enhance their skills and connect with schools and communities seeking to increase arts education. ArtsEd Washington is a membership-based organization open to all persons and organizations concerned with the state of arts education in our schools.
