Seattle, WA – On Saturday evening, March 7th, Artist Trust will host its annual gala art auction, showcasing the donated work of more than 145 Washington State artists. The evening will feature silent and live auctions, champagne, seated dinner, and music and entertainment provided by A Cedar Suede and Esther de Monteflores. The auction will bring together more than 450 art patrons, community leaders, entrepreneurs and young professionals, as well as artists and arts supporters from across the state. All proceeds benefit Artist Trust’s programs to support the artists of Washington State.
This year’s auction will showcase work by extraordinary artists, including 2014 Artist Trust Fellowship recipients Cathy McClure and Jason Walker, 2010 Arts Innovator Award recipient Leo Berk, 2009 Twining Humber Award recipient Anne Hirondelle and legendary Northwest artists Kenneth Callahan and Michael Spafford. Attendees may bid on a range of artwork: paintings, sculptures, jewelry and photographs, as well as exciting ‘art experiences’ like: Tête-à-tête Lunch with Author Maria Semple, Art Tour in Bali with former Executive Director David Mendoza and an after-hours Personal Shopping evening at Totokaelo with a $2,000 Gift Certificate. The start of the evening will feature a curator tour with Tim Detweiler and Barbara Earl Thomas, and interactive art with Artist Trust supported artists Mary Coss and Suzanne Tidwell.
“I am looking forward to seeing a roomful of hundreds of people who care deeply about the good work of Artist Trust, and supporting Washington State artists across disciplines at our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Shannon Halberstadt, Artist Trust’s Executive Director.
To launch this year’s festivities, a Benefactor Event is being hosted by collectors and philanthropists John and Shari Behnke in late February at their home. Invitations to this party are available for major sponsors and guests purchasing tickets at the Benefactor and Champion levels ($350 and $500 per person respectively).
Artist Trust is excited to announce that this year, the Board of Trustees has committed to donating over $60,000 to FUND THE ARTISTS, an opportunity during the live auction for guests to make a 100% tax-deductible donation to Artist Trust – a contribution that goes directly to grants and career training for individual artists.
