Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church of Seattle invites artists, filmmakers, writers and musicians to submit materials for "Redemption," a temporary, curated multimedia gallery running June 6-13. Acceptable media include original 2-D and 3-D visual art, writing (prepared for visual presentation – short pieces or excerpts on broadsheets preferred), music, and video.
Submissions need not be overtly "religious." Encarta defines redemption as "the act of saving something or somebody from a declined, dilapidated, or corrupted state and restoring it, him, or her to a better condition." Redemption transpires on many levels, spiritual and physical, from the everyday to the epic. Pieces will be selected based on their artistic quality and contribution to the theme. There are no entry fees or sales commissions. The gallery will publish a catalog to assist those wishing to purchase a piece in contacting the artist directly.
Two $75 prizes will be awarded: one for visual art and one for all other media (written word/ audio/ video).Â
Include the following information in the body of your emailed submission
• Catalog Information – 1 sentence artist bio along with any contact information you want listed in the catalog. Specify title, medium and dimensions for each piece, as well as price for each item, if items are for sale.
• Artist Statement – 1 paragraph limit for each work submitted (optional).
• Complete Contact Information – please include your full name, phone number, email address and snail mail address.
Send up to 2 submissions (as .jpg, .ppt, .doc, .pdf, .avi, .mpeg, .wmv, .wma or .mp3 file attachments) to arts@capitolhillpres.org. There will be limited capacity for video presentations; shorter loops will have the best chance for inclusion. If your work is 3-D, you may send more than one picture per piece to give us an idea of front, back, profile, etc. For songs with words, please submit a file for lyrics as well as your recording.
