ResidenceSeattle, WA, USA Place of BirthSt. John, New Brunswick, , Canada Personal StatementI love to laugh, and if something strikes me as funny, strange or ironic - it becomes fodder for my work. Phrases with double meanings, odd visual juxtapositions, humorous songs, domestic squabbles and everyday absurdities all inspire me. I especially like to take intimate, personal objects, familiar to everyone and to alter them to make them absurdly personal and thought-provoking. BiographyI am a full-time sculptor working primarily in glass. I have a degree in Landscape Architecture because I was too stubborn to quit when I realized sculpture was my calling; and an incomplete MFA because I did quit two years into it when I realized that life's too short to jump through other people's hoops. Awards and HonorsArtist Trust's 2007 Grants for Artist Projects (GAP) Award, Washington State Studio Assistantship for David Reekie 2007, Penland School of Crafts, Penland, NC 2004 Drinking Glass Competition, Best in Spirits category Jon and Mary Shirley Glass Scholarship 2002-2003, Pratt Fine Arts Center, Seattle, WA
