Deanna Pindell

Residence

Chimacum, WA, USA

Personal Statement

I explore the mysteries:
human nature and spirit,
birth and afterlife,
devotion and dreams.

the metaphors of gestation and birth
link
our human bodies with our spiritual conciousness.

I respond to the tension
between quiet nature and the industrial world,
in the architecture of bones, birds, the human body.

Beeswax, clay, paper;
steel, resins, plastics;
the materials chosen for each sculpture embody poetic meaning.

Biography

Professionally, Deanna Pindell’s career has been rich, active and varied:
from decades in theater to environmental installations;
from public art to children’s workshops;
from medical illustration to functional art-furniture;
and always centered around drawing and sculpture.

Currently, she loves teaching art, as faculty at Olympic College, and partnering in the largest artcenter/gallery on the Kitsap Penninsula, Collective Visions Gallery in Bremerton.

Pindell’s artistic works are focused on sculpture, public art and installation, through which she hopes to “give something back” to the community.

Deanna’s free time is spent happily watching wildlife and playing with husband Rich, and dog Mango, on their rural acreage deep in the Olympic Peninsula.
