ResidenceVancouver, WA, USA Place of BirthMayville, ND, USA Personal StatementI am a multiple media artist with a commitment to creating thought-provoking art that heals the soul. Healing can come in the form of peace and beauty, or in holding a mirror up to one's life. Healing the soul takes many forms in my mind, and has taken many forms in my art. From fields of abstract, swirlings shapes, dots, line and texture through naturalistic still life pieces and sculpture, the feelings evoked may be anywhere from gentle and soothing to somewhat jarring, or a combination of the two. While my main focus is painting, I allow different mediums to speak through me when their voice is the most appropriate in getting the message across. BiographyBorn in Mayville, North Dakota, I have lived in most regions of the United States as well as Germany and Honduras. I have travelled throughout the United States and a large portion of Europe. This exposure to different places and cultures of the world have a direct influence on me as an artist and as a person. I have known I was an artist since the age of three. If anyone asked, I would tell them so! Life chose to take me on a journey throughout many brief and varied jobs ranging from a short order cook, to a veterinary assistant to an Airfield Management Specialist in the United States Air Force. I am greatful for the lessons I have learned about myself, people and the world while on these adventures. They have deepened who I am as an individual, and provided a strong foundation for my art.
