In January of 2007, Artist Trust held a roundtable discussion with leaders of several Washington State arts organizations to both inform on the progress being made by WAHIP and to outline a plan to form a WAHIP Steering Committee. The steering committee, comprised of arts organizations representatives, would allow additional organizations, representing a diversity of disciplines, to participate in the planning and progress of future and developing projects. The Steering Committee would also serve as an information conduit by disseminating information to the respective constituencies of the organizations. This would help keep different sectors of the arts community informed on health related issues and on the overall progress of the Washington Artists Health Insurance Project. The desire to form the WAHIP Steering Committee was met favorably and the new committee had its first meeting in March of 2007. The Committee continues to meet on a bimonthly schedule.
