Flora Ramírez Bustamante was born in Malaga, Spain. She has always been curious about portraits and people representation. After she moved to the United States, the focus of her work has been the emotional break that she experienced when she left Europe. Defining both the invisible and real space that is home for her has been theme and inspiration of her last artwork.

Flora works with oils and oil pastels, and also experiments with new materials and processes. She is currently using wire screens, composite materials and paper in some of her new compositions, as well as clay.

Artist’s Addenda: Flora Ramirez-Bustamante was invited to take part in the 2013 VALA Artist Studio: Artist In Residence (AIR) Program.
