Kip Kania (Port Townsend) was born in Chicago, IL in 1957. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1979. A self-taught photographer, Kip began photographing street life in the neighborhoods he lived in Chicago. When travelling in Australia he received permission to live and photograph on an Australian Aboriginal Community (reservation). While living in Korea, he photographed a series of street portraits of Korean people. Kip continues to photograph people of various backgrounds and walks of life.
