About the Artist
Jessica Balsam is an artist who lives and works in Tacoma. She is the president of Tacoma Contemporary, a visual arts non-profit, and works as Development Coordinator at Tacoma Art Museum. Her work, which encompasses drawing, painting, and installation, has been exhibited in Seattle and Tacoma as well as in Chicago. She was the co-curator of This is Not Art Glass at SOIL Gallery in 2003 and is the recipient of a Tacoma Artists’ Initiative Project grant, a Marx-Saunders Gallery grant, and a Washington State Arts Commission Artist-in-Residence grant. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois, with an emphasis on glass and printmaking.
