About the Artist
Jessica Mooney's short stories, essays, and literary criticism have appeared in Entropy, Moss, The Seattle Review of Books, The Rumpus, Salon, the What to Read in the Rain Anthology published by 826 Seattle, and elsewhere. She is fortunate enough to have received artist grants from the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture and 4 Culture, and was previously a fellow at the Hugo House. Jessica is also an epidemiologist working in the field of global health for an international nonprofit, with current projects in Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Myanmar, and the Philippines.

Receiving this award from Artist Trust will help support ethnographic research for my first novel and allow me to have the time to simply hunker down and write, reaffirming the discipline and stamina it takes to complete a years-long artistic project.
