About the Artist

Keri Healey (Seattle) received a 2010 GAP to cover artist fees associated with the development of a new play titled Torso that was inspired by a real-life account of a murder that happened in Southern Minnesota. What might be just another bizarre story about violence, revenge and broken family relations in America actually hit a lot closer to home for Healey. One of the alleged conspirators in the murder (and sister to the victim), was Healey’s high school friend. Healey’s intent was not to write a formulaic criminal procedural, but a fictional story inspired by an act of familial violence.

In 2013 Torso won the M. Elizabeth Osborn New Play Award.
