About the Artist
Kim Caldwell (Mountlake Terrace) is a veteran artist who combines her 26 years of painting experience with infectious enthusiasm for continued learning and experimentation. She likes to translate the flow of life around her when she paints plein air through her brush and paint onto her paper. She paints small color-infused watercolors onsite using 3” x 5” pieces of paper and a tiny travel palette. She is able to quickly capture the way the light is falling and to get down the actual colors in the shadows that show up black on photographs. She uses those little paintings to create a larger composition in studio. Kim paints to take the viewer on a journey to where she has been, sharing the experience of the location. Painting is her passion, sharing it is her joy.
