About the Artist
Lisa Gilley (Nordland) was raised in the Skagit Valley farmlands and has lived in Washington State her entire life. As an artist, she is passionate about the country’s pristine landscapes and, through her art, has directed her attention toward their continued protection. Lias's paintings document National Parks and Monuments, wilderness areas, and lands seeking protection under different Wilderness Acts, all in an attempt to bring awareness to their fragile existence..
Lisa received 2015 GAP funding to help her with travel expenses, in preparation for her new body of work "Chasing the Snake," a series that seeks to document the Snake River from its canyons and tributaries in Washington and Oregon to its source in the Tetons.
