About the Artist
Malayka Gormally (Seattle) explores creative collaboration and emotional connection within diverse communities. In her oil paintings she focuses on multi-racial and intergenerational family and friends in the arts: hip hop musicians, chefs, actors and artists. She juxtaposes graffiti-like figures with hard-edged and geometric shapes in vivid transparent colors, giving her work a Neo-pop edge. Her paintings are in the City of Seattle Portable Works Collection, the Safeco Insurance and City of Kent collections, numerous private collections, and have exhibited in Houston and Seattle. Publications include Studio Visit Magazine: Volume 30, The Seattle Weekly, Vroom Journal, and E-newsletters for Rise Art and Artist Trust.
