From the Artist
I'm thrilled and humbled to be a 2016 Artist Trust Fellowship recipient. Film projects can take years - or in my case, decades! Artist Trust gave me that first huge vote of confidence with a 1997 Fellowship when I was just a couple of drafts and one year into my screenplay, Sophisticated -- a big budget, period film story. Getting any movie made is a kind of miracle. Getting Sophisticated made became possible because receiving the Artist Trust Fellowship helped me believe it was possible. Countless drafts later and nearly twenty years into Sophisticated, Artist Trust helped me over the finish line. Sophisticated goes into pre-production this fall. I am deeply grateful to the donors, board members, staff and volunteers -- for the financial support, credibility, relevance and encouragement to keep at it. Thank you, Artist Trust!
