About the Artist
Michelle Bates (Seattle) has been a photographer since 1991. Her involvement in the arts in the Northwest since 1992 has been wide-ranging, including exhibiting, teaching, speaking, documenting visual artwork and performance, managing galleries, serving on non-profit boards, organizing events, and even learning clarinet to join a marching band. She is the author of Plastic Cameras: Toying with Creativity, about low-tech photography, gives talks and workshops nationwide, and exhibits her images internationally. She is also sought after as a photographer for theater and circus shows and performers.
