About the Artist
With oil paintings, mixed media pieces, and drawings, my recent work explores layers of personal perception and cultural meaning in images derived from observation of the Northwest forest. I work on site, in the open or behind glass as weather requires. Moving between careful rendering and gestural abstraction, I play with varying combinations of order and randomness, forging a response to the beleaguered natural world that is our home.
I’ve lived in the Puget Sound region since graduating with a degree in the History of Art in 1979 from the University of California at Berkeley.
