About the Artist
My work as an artist is to take waste or obsolete material and turn it into fabric, wrap it around a body, and walk it down a runway. I use traditional techniques like crochet, sewing, quilting and weaving, but have also invented techniques as needed to resurrect discarded items by making them a design element in “Haute Couture” dresses. I currently work as an HIV/AIDS and hospice nurse at Bailey Boushay House. My work is shown under the name Alotta DeTritus in runway shows and installations in Washington and California.
