We invite you to contribute to our exhibit “Climate – Turn Down the Heat” at the Confluence Gallery in Twisp, WA. The show will open on January 4 and will run through February 15.

It is well established and evident to all of us that we humans are having a profound impact on the planetary life support systems that sustain us. Burning fossil fuels is rapidly heating up our atmosphere affecting weather patterns, ocean temperatures and water chemistry, growing seasons and all the life that surrounds us. We are living in a new climate and it is one that the human species has never encountered before. This change is occurring rapidly making it a challenge for plants and animals to adapt and survive. Whether we acknowledge it or not, we are all feeling the change and impacts from our rapidly changing climate. We are asking artists to explore what climate change means to them. The awe of the beauty of life on this earth, our only home. The grief at the loss and rapid change, the empathy for what humans and other species are going through, the anger at inaction and greed, the hope that we will change our ways and realize that all life is one and that life on this planet is unique and a miracle. In short, this exhibit is about grief, anger, awe, love, hope, and action.
