Following the success of Coliseum of Art this summer, we are proud to be unveiling a new exhibition that will light up Seattle’s life during the dark winter days ahead.
Coliseum of Light will offer residents and visitors the perfect remedy to 4 PM sunsets with a three-month exhibition dedicated to light-focused art.
We are looking for artists who are experience in creating light-based art and/or light installations, to join us in transforming one of Seattle’s most iconic downtown historic buildings into a winter injection of local art and light. If light is an essential part of your creation process, we want to see it!
What sort of art are we looking for? See below!*
Whew. My head is spinning over the possibilities!
We invite all artists working across the wide spectrum of light-based, illuminated, and light-responsive art to apply. Artists will receive compensation of up to $5,000 or up to $15,000 depending on the scale of the project.
The deadline for submissions in October 11, which is coming up quick! We welcome artists to submit previously shown works for consideration. New works will be considered, but the artist must have a proven track record of turning things around lickety-split, as we will be opening prior to this Thanksgiving.
*Submissions may include LED, neon, fluorescent and fiber-optic works; illuminated sculpture and objects; projection, video, animation and projection mapping; immersive and room-scale light environments; interactive or sensor-responsive installations; kinetic and mechanical light works; mirrors, reflective materials and infinity effects; shadow, silhouette and optical works; lasers and programmed lighting; light boxes, illuminated signage and architectural interventions; digital and generative light art; UV, blacklight, phosphorescent and glow-based works; holographic, lenticular and other illusion-based pieces; sound-and-light installations; light painting and illuminated graffiti; window installations; and exterior or architectural illumination.
