We invite you to contribute to our exhibit “Object Lessons” at The Confluence. The show will run April 15 – May 31.
We are surrounded by stuff – consumer goods, historical artifacts, impulse purchases. But stuff breaks. It goes out of fashion or becomes obsolete. And it usually comes wrapped in layers of excess packaging. Object Lessons will explore how ordinary items, discards, leftovers, and unearthed treasures can inspire creativity and find new life as art.
The Confluence envisions art that enlightens viewers by exploring our relationship to consumption, waste, and decay. We’re looking for art that will spark discovery of the potential for creativity and beauty when found objects are reimagined. The art can make a statement or be whimsical. It can be functional or wearable, or simply be beautiful or decorative.
Works of art must incorporate reused or repurposed materials. Those materials can include everyday consumer items, industrial equipment and supplies, discoveries from the natural world, or any other repurposed items that artists find inspiring. The recycled materials can be used on their own or in combination with traditional art mediums.
Artists may submit up to four works of art. The description of each work of art must include a complete list of repurposed materials and other art mediums.
Curated by: Marcy Stamper
Here are the rules:
Artists may submit up to four (4) Pieces
Each piece must be:
- Your own original work
- Available for sale
- Never previously shown in Okanogan County
- Any size
- Any medium but must include repurposed materials
- Ready for hanging with appropriate hardware/wire secured to work (works without hanging hardware or not professionally presented will not be hung. No dented or scratched frames unless that is part of the work)
Please note, the curator has the right to refuse work, even after work is delivered to the gallery, if it does not contribute to the direction, cohesiveness, or available space of the show. We are looking for high-quality execution and thoughtful content that contribute to the vision of the show as stated above.
All emailed correspondence for this show must include “Object Lessons” in the subject line and be sent to exhibits@confluencegallery.org .
Please note: each piece will need a separate entry
The description of each work of art must include a complete list of repurposed materials and other art mediums.
