The School Liaison will build and maintain connections to schools and teaching artists, oversee the planning, development, and execution of in-school programs, and ensure program content aligns with Youth Speaks Seattle mission and values. The School Liaison will collaborate closely
with YSS Executive Director to ensure mission alignment and continuity of relationships with schools and teaching artists.

Youth Speaks Seattle is a Seattle area nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth ages 13-20 through spoken word poetry and performance. Operating since 2003, Youth Speaks Seattle has been the home and birthplace of some of the greatest local performers in the city. Youth Speaks Seattle is youth led and youth run at every level of its operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Working closely with Executive Director to align in- school program content with YSS values
● Developing and maintaining relationships with schools and teachers
● Planning and scheduling in-school programs (open mics, workshops, presentation series, mini-slams, etc)
● Developing new in-school program types in response to feedback/school needs
● Coordinating teaching artists for in-school programs
● Identifying and recruiting qualified teaching artists
● Reviewing and maintaining in-school program materials and plan
● When necessary, teaching/hosting or co-teaching/co-hosting in school programs
● Monitoring and evaluating the effectivity of in-school programs, making adjustments as needed
and consulting with Executive Director
● Maintaining accurate records of program attendance, feedback, and teaching artist
