Thanks to the continued support of our community, 2022 was one of Artist Trust’s boldest years of artist support to date – and we’re not done yet!

We believe that artists are essential to keeping Washington State creative, equitable, and vibrant. That’s why our team worked tirelessly to give out more funding and reach more artists than ever before, awarding over $430,000 to 133 artists across 21 counties in 2022 – 35% more dollars placed directly in the hands of artists compared to before the pandemic! We visited communities in every corner of Washington State, providing thousands of artists of all disciplines with rare and much-needed funding, resources, and career development support. Our 2022 Annual Report shows the details of our year. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Helping 40 artists and their families find stable financial footing by providing $100,000 in emergency support through our new Artist Trust Endurance Grants
  • Extending the reach of the Artist Trust Fellowship Awards by creating a new Fellowship Award for Trans* and Indigiqueer Artists in partnership with The Lillian Miller Educational Foundation, and awarding the first-ever Artist Trust Fellowship Award for Black Artists and Greg Kucera and Larry Yocom Fellowship Award
  • Increasing our support for elder women artists by adding a fourth Support Old Lady Artists (SOLA) Award honoring a Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) artist, and increasing the amount of the awards from $3,000 to $5,000 in partnership with SOLA and artist Ginny Ruffner

As we continue our work this year, we hope you will renew your support to help us provide funding, professional development, and resources for artists statewide. Your contribution in any amount is more than a donation — it is an investment in a bright and bold future for Washington State artists, in 2023 and beyond. Thank you for supporting Washington State artists and the work of Artist Trust!

With gratitude,

The Artist Trust Staff
