Abby E. Murray is a poet from Pierce county who’s spent over ten years moving around the country for her spouse’s military assignments. Her first full-length collection, Hail and Farewell, won the 2019 Perugia Press Poetry Prize for women writers and was released in September 2019. She is the editor of Collateral, an online literary journal examining the impact of violent conflict and military service beyond the combat zone, and she teaches free writing workshops around Tacoma, including Joint Base Lewis-McChord. She writes a poem a week, even if it’s trash.

Abby is in the process of writing her second book of poems under the working title Recovery Commands. Support from the Artist Trust will help ease her teaching schedule and grant her the gift of time during the editing and submitting processes.

Artist Trust thanks the Amazon Literary Partnership for underwriting this award through Artist Trust’s Corporate Partnership program. For information about supporting Washington State artists, visit here.
