About

Ali Holmes is a multimedia artist living in Bellingham, WA on the ancestral homelands of the Nooksack and Lummi people. She gained her BA in studio art and sociology through Whitman College, Walla Walla, WA in 2016; her MIT through Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA in 2020; and her certificate in comics in 2024 through SAW in Gainesville, FL. She is currently a teacher through Crucial Comix out of Portland, OR and an adjunct professor through Western Washington University, WA. She was previously a public school art teacher and hopes to return to this profession in the future.

She specializes in graphic non-fiction, graphic memoir, ceramics arts, and jewelry arts. Through her comics work she is interested in community power, disability justice, and political injustice. One of her future goals includes publishing a graphic memoir. She believes art is powerful a form of communication and wants to use art to tell stories and build community power.
